P.L. “Burl” Burrell, Jr.

P.L. Burrell, Jr., known to most as “Burl”, 93, of Lake Worth, was called home on January 22, 2022.

Graveside Service: 10:00 am, Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Blue Bonnet Hills Memorial Park, Colleyville

Memorial Service:  Noon, following Graveside, at Metropolitan Baptist Church, Lake Worth

Visitation:  6:00 to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Biggers Funeral Home

He was born in Hereford, TX and lived in the Amarillo area until 1969 when he moved to Ft. Worth.  He was married to Ruth Stewart in 1952 until she passed away on January 28, 1990. They had a combined family of nine children.

Burl was an entrepreneur in several industries including, owning a café, a gas station, and lastly real estate business. There was never a time that anyone can remember that he wasn’t working.  He married Joyce Porter in 1994.  Together they traveled regularly and enjoyed country western dancing.

He was active in the Metropolitan Baptist Church of Lake Worth.

He was proceeded in death by his parents P.L. and Estell Burrell, Sr. and son, James Gurley.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Burrell; children, Gean (Richard) Peninger, Sandra Yates, Carolyn Burrell, Carroll (Sarah) Burrell, Barbara Burrell, Kenneth Geeslin, Patsy (Mike) Mumblow, David Burrell; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
