She was a lifelong resident of Tarrant County, born in Fort Worth at Saint Joseph Hospital to Alva and Alta Mae Dodgin on December 27, 1947.
Patricia was Diane’s given name only because of a mistake completing her birth certificate. She would tell you that if you ever called her Patricia. Diane grew up in Lake Worth, attending all 12 years of school there with the exception of a few months when the family followed father Al to Maine and South Dakota where he repaired B-36s for the Air Force.
Diane was always the brightest person in any room. She graduated with honors from Lake Worth High School, Texas Wesleyan and University of North Texas where she earned a perfect 4.0 GPA in graduate school. Along with her brilliance, she was the nicest most caring person you would ever meet. Everyone loved her and no one was a stranger. She grew up wanting to teach and that is what she did. There are scores of Azle High School graduates who read and write a little better because she was their English teacher. Following her retirement, she traveled the globe with husband Bill seeing places and things she never expected to see. She was a lifelong member of the Lake Worth Methodist church. The world is not quite as kind a place with her gone.
Diane is survived by her husband, Bill; a daughter, Amy Tong; grandson, Austin Tong; son, Matthew Nutt, and daughter-in-law, Laura, all of Azle; sister, Kathy McMullen, and brother-in-law, Bobby, of Lakeside.
