Paul was born January 27, 1942, to the late Cline and Marie Drake in Dallas. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and a great friend. Paul devoted his life to the service of others. One of his greatest joys was building houses with Habitat for Humanity, where he served on the board of directors. Another was serving in various capacities in his beloved Stonewater Church. Most of all, he loved his Lord, Jesus, and devoted his life to sharing the love of Christ with others. The ripple effect that he had on the lives of others is truly remarkable.
Paul had a passion for life and never sat still. He lived life to the fullest and with gusto. He was a graduate of Lubbock High School and in his younger days raced stock cars at Lubbock Speedway. Paul was also president of the South Plains Racing Association. He loved riding his motorcycle, playing golf, and fishing. He worked for Lubbock Electric Company, where he rose to the position of sales manager and retired after 45 years of service. Paul proudly served leadership roles in numerous organizations – the Children’s Home Foundation, Optimist Club, Habitat for Humanity, the Texas Cotton Ginners’ Association, the Hugh O’Brien Youth Foundation and Texas Boys Ranch.
Paul was preceded in death by his brother Flavil Drake in 2016.
