Phoebe Hunt

Granbury –  Phoebe Jane Gavan Hunt, a 26 year resident of Lake Granbury, passed away quietly in her sleep on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at the age of 88.

Memorial service:  Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Martin’s Funeral Home, 100 So. Morgan, Granbury, TX.

There will be a reception at her home for friends and family following the service.

Phoebe was the daughter of Don and Dorothy “Dot” Gavan, she was born and raised in the Atlanta area.  She married Wayne Clark Hunt, Jr.  on September 18, 1948, they lived in the Atlanta, Marietta, Baton Rouge, Detroit, New Orleans and Arlington areas  before moving to Granbury in 1990.

She was the mother of four sons, Wayne Clark “Trip” Hunt III, Donald Patrick Hunt (deceased), Kenneth Hamilton Hunt and Gavan Gorden Hunt.

Phoebe was a graduate of Stevens College and was a teacher and entrepreneur throughout her lifetime.  She enjoyed boating and sailing, she rode horses and loved playing bridge with her friends.  At barely five foot tall, she was a great lady concentrated in a small package.

Survivors:  Wayne Hunt, III  and wife  Melanie, Kenneth Hunt ,Gavan Hunt and wife Kelley.

Grandchildren, Patrick Hunt and wife, Cassandra, Matt Hunt and wife Emily , Phoebe Hunt, Stephanie Hunt, Kathryn Hunt, Kenny Hunt, Erin Verrett and husband Logan, Regan Hunt and Gunnar Hunt.

Great grandchildren, Emalee Hunt, Maya Hunt and Cade Hunt.  Also, her  faithful dog, Ruby.
