Phyllis L. Young Edans, 68, of Granbury, unexpectedly passed into God’s waiting arms on Monday, May 21, 2018. Service: 10:30 AM, Saturday, May 26, 2018, Triple Cross Cowboy Church, Graveside service: 3:00 PM, Saturday, Grandview Cemetery, Visitation: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Friday, May 25, 2018, Wiley Funeral Home, Granbury. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made directly to Salvation Army, Granbury Chapter or to Mission Granbury.
Phyllis was born on June 21, 1949 in Crane, Texas to Robert and Lodell Young. She attended Grandview schools and graduated valedictorian. Phyllis graduated with a dual degree in Accounting and English. At the age of 28 she obtained her license as a Certified Public Accountant. She rose to the top of the accounting department at each corporate office in her career. She became the Chief Financial Officer for the American College of Emergency Physicians for 27 years before retiring in 2014. Along the way, she became a recognized expert in nonprofit accounting and highly regarded by others for her mentoring abilities and ethical beliefs.
Phyllis married William Patton “Pat” Edans on February 2, 1980 in Grandview, Texas. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Family was the number one priority her entire life, always ready to volunteer and help her husband, children and anyone else. She could not say no.
Phyllis was a tireless volunteer in her community. Always there no matter the day or time. Her retirement from the work world was just a new chapter in her desire to help others. She volunteered with the Newcomers Club; coordinated scheduling of veterans needing transportation to doctor appointments as well as being a driver herself; volunteering for Salvation Army activities; active in the Citizens Police Academy Alumni Organization that supports the Granbury Police Department. She also was a member of the Indian Harbor Ladies Club and volunteered her accounting skills for the entire Indian Harbor community. Phyllis was an active member of Triple Cross Cowboy Church helping cook and serve meals to grieving families. She loved the Lord and this country. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her in-laws: Jack and Claudine Edans.
Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of 38 years: Pat Edans, children: Robert Clark and wife Shelley, Robin Clark, and Trey Edans, grandchildren: Kelsay Clark, Kolton Clark, and Archer Clark, siblings: Lee Young and wife Donna, Patricia Irvin and husband Jerry, and Randal Edans and wife Marilyn, aunt: Wanda Morrow, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Phyllis was known for her sparkle, personality, caring attitude and jewelry. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
