Phyllis Virginia (Nusbaum) Kimes, passed from this life at 12:44 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018, in Fort Worth.
Memorial Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, January 19, 2019 at The Warehouse Church, 1549 Highway 441, Leesburg, Florida 34748.
She was enjoying having all three kids together for a few days of celebration, and on their last day together God called her spirit to Himself. She loved D. L. Moody’s eulogy and wanted it to be part of hers. “Someday you will read or hear that I am dead. Don’t you believe a word of it. I will have gone into the presence of God and my Savior.”
She was born Aug. 7, 1930, in Spencerville, Ind. She was married to Blaine (Wimp) Kimes for 51 years before God called his spirit home. They moved to Fruitland Park, Fla., in 1974, where they worked with and enjoyed the families of their children and grandchildren. Her passions were Jesus, family, reading, travel and shelling. Upon giving her heart to Jesus in 1982 her desire to know Him lead her to obtaining a degree in Christian Education and teaching 4th grade Sunday School for many years. She loved combing the beach for shells, searching hours for that little “gem” that everyone else passed by. And she was all about family!
She was preceded to Heaven by her sister, Francis Sheefel; and brother Ronald Nusbaum.
Survivors: Surviving are her brothers, Richard Nusbaum and Ralph Nusbaum; and sister, Dorothy Fry; children, Gregory and Linda Kimes, Susan (Kimes) and Jeffrey Myers, Jennifer (Kimes) and David Carothers; grandchildren, Joshua Kimes, Nathan and Kelly Kimes, Jeremy and Jackie Myers, Stephanie (Myers) and David Dunn and Katie Carothers; she also has nine great-grandchildren who brought her much laughter and many smiles.
