Ralph Edward Throne

GRANBURY — Ralph Edward Throne, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, died peacefully on August 6, 2016 in his home.
Service: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury.
Interment: Holly Hills Memorial Park.
Ralph was born December 13, 1930 in Tulsa, OK., the son of Carl and Gladys Throne. He married Shirley Ann Johnson on May 26, 1953 in Fort Worth, TX. He served in the U.S. Navy and was assigned to the USS Cadmus AR-14 and the USS Wilkinson DL-5. Ralph and Shirley lived in Boston, MA. for two years during his years in the service. They returned to Fort Worth to raise their four children for 18 years before moving to Granbury in 1975 and residing there for 38 years. Since 2013, Ralph and Shirley lived in Houston. Ralph was a boiler inspector for the insurance company, Hartford Steam Boilers, The National Board, and the State of Texas for 37 years.
Ralph was preceded in death by his son, Michael Throne; his parents, Carl and Gladys Throne; siblings, Betty Rushing, Richard Throne, Carl Throne, Bill Throne, Jerry Throne and Bob Throne.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Shirley Throne; his daughter, Jeanna Tyler and husband, Robert of Houston, TX; his son, Darryl Throne and wife, Meloni of Midlothian, TX; and his daughter, Kristi Strickland of Denton, TX.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
