Memorial Service

Rex Ives, 98, passed away Monday, December 14, 2015. A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Tolar Baptist Church in Tolar.
Rex was born December 12, 1917 in Palestine to Charles and Mary Ives. He married Julia Carter on July 9, 1950 in Granbury. They were members of Tolar Baptist Church since 1967 and Tolar Senior Citizens’ Club since it was formed. Rex was a hard worker and a diligent provider. He was the World’s Best Gardener, his neighbors often benefiting from his garden’s bounty. His favorite time of the day was “Vittle Time”, when he had a glass of milk with cornbread crumbled inside. He’d say the secret to a long life is “eat red beans daily”. He was preceded in death by first wife Mildred Ives; wife of 65 years Julia Ives; son Phil Ives; and great grandsons Dylan Kinson and Dustin “Bubba” Meyers.
Rex leaves behind his children David Ives (Sylvia), Dianna Rosser (Jack), Don Ives (Deborah), Paul Ives (Kathy), Scott Ives (Cyndy), Tonya Harkins (Larry); 17 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
