North Richland Hills – Richard W. Lair, 92 years old, passed into the arms of Jesus on September 20, 2022. He was born November 20, 1929 in Wharton, Texas, the son of Lovell and Beulah (Marks) Lair.
Celebration of Life: 10:00 am, Friday, September 23, 2022 in Biggers Funeral Chapel at 6100 Azle Ave, Fort Worth, Texas 76135
Richard was Honorably Discharged after serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean war. Richard enjoyed a successful career in electronics and worked on many special programs at Tempco, LTV and finally retiring with E-Systems. He taught the 5th and 6th grade Sunday School classes at Oak Cliff UMC for many years, and later joined First United Methodist Church Fort Worth.
Richard and his wife, Lenda married at the home they built on Lake Worth and celebrated 37 years of marriage in March of this year. Richard was a proud yet humble soul. He was wise, peaceful, a hard worker and his kindness touched so many people. Richard’s beautiful wavy white hair & sparkling blue eyes were such a joy! His favorite times were spent at family gatherings (especially at the dessert table!) It was risky to find yourself between Richard & chocolate ice cream!
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his first wife of 20 years, Nancy Lane (Henderson), his brother Ted, and his granddaughter, Laramie.
Richard is survived by his wife of 37 years, Lenda Grace (Clardy/Lane). Beloved sister in law, Sharon (Clardy) Williams, of Abilene, Texas. He is also survived by his five children: Son, Richard Lair II and wife, Anna, of Saginaw; daughters, Jan Katchmazenski and husband, Chaz Mixon of Saginaw, Cynthia Wahl and husband Tom of Fort Worth, Kathy Etter and husband, Roy, of Boyd, Anne Schmitt and husband, Woody, of Keller; eleven grandchildren, Jason Gist, Jesseica Salazar, Jaclyn Anderson and wife, Alysha, Nikki Katchmazenski, Melissa Cook and husband, Cash, Savannah, Kyle and McKenna Booth, Kevin Anderson, Hunter and Logan Schmitt; eight great-grandchildren, Brianna, Faith and Kacey Gist, Rey and Mia Salazar, Caiden and Ellie Cook and Lorelai Anderson.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank Connie Coleman, beloved caregiver and friend.
Richard will be laid to rest later this fall during a private service at the National Cemetery in Dallas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Rutledge Cancer Foundation in Fort Worth or the Dallas Scottish Rite Hospital.
