Richard Wayne Totten, also known as Dickie, was born in Fort Worth, Texas on March 10, 1943, to Richard Warner and Bertha Totten. Richard was a graduate of Trimble Tech High School and spent more than 30 years working for Lockheed Martin where he worked on numerous projects; he was most proud of being a leader on the A-12 Program.
Richard was married to Carole Sue Totten for 45 years and together they had 3 children. After Carole’s death in 2011, Richard was fortunate enough to find love again with Melinda Otte Totten.
Richard earned the rank of Eagle Scout while in high school and spent many weekends chaperoning campouts, teaching scouts to cook over a campfire and building pinewood derby cars. Richard was a car enthusiast, master woodworker and an avid hobbyist. In his most recent years, Richard found a love for old west re-enactment. He and his wife Melinda spent many weekends as Pop and Carmelita Corn at an old west town, called Marrow Bone Springs, that was south of the metroplex.
Richard loved his family and never met a stranger. He was quick to share a laugh or a hug and was affectionately known as Grandpa by almost everyone he knew. He played an active role in the lives of his children and grandchildren – going on mission trips, planning weekend campouts, working in Cub Scouts and teaching preschoolers at his home church.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 45 years Carole Sue Totten, son Gene Jackson, daughter Tracy Lambour and sister Cathy Crowley
Richard is survived by his wife, Melinda Otte Totten; son, Richard Totten (Stephanie), son in law, Rick Lambour, daughter in law, Janet Jackson, stepdaughter, Gini Howerton (Jonathan), stepson, Matt Oliver; grandchildren, Shelby Jackson, Nathan Totten, Caty Lambour, Patrick Lambour, Alexandra Jackson, William Totten, Abigail Totten, Andrew Howerton, Blake Howerton, Reese Howerton & Riley Howerton; great-niece Hannah Grace Bryant and numerous other family members and friends.
