Jr died on March 29, 2022 at the age of 92 . He was born on 11/11/1929 at 7 Knobs area of Somervell/Bosque County line in a cabin on the side of the mountain to Susie Fullerton and Riley F. Gosdin.
When Jr was 4 years old he went to Oklahoma on a train with his mother and sister, Lorene after his dad died. He did everything on the farm including milking cows and riding horses with only a bridle, He could do it all. He was fearless. Then he moved to West Texas with his parents and sister (Lorene) where he farmed while growing up.
Jr moved to Glen Rose and worked at the Synder Sanitarium as a handyman doing inside and outside jobs. He also worked at Convair in Fort Worth and Lane’s Gravel Washer in Glen Rose.
Jr began a new job for 32 years from 1960 to 1992 with Texas Lime Plant in Cleburne, Texas. They asked him if he could do the work and he said (I can do anything you want me to) He worked long hours doing whatever was necessary as a mechanic and a heavy equipment operator. (He was considered a Jack of all trades) He could work on any type of equipment and get it running again.
Upon his retirement from the Texas Lime Plant, he began doing shredding jobs. He also never left his love to fix and repair equipment which he did until he was 91 years old.
Jr was an awesome Man, Dad, Husband, and Papa. He married Lois Hatcher on July 11, 1949. They had four children, Kathy Gosdin, Carol and husband William Gartrell, Larry and wife Jean Gosdin and Gary and wife Kim Gosdin all of Glen Rose. He was blessed with eight grandchildren, Brandon and Brent Gartrell, Melissa, Angie and Jennifer Gosdin, Lindsay Turnham, Weston, and Rachel Gosdin and 5 great-grandchildren, Aiden, Conner, Grant, and Kennedy Gartrell, Kade Turnham.
He is survived by his sister, Lorene Gilleland of Meridian and his brother, William Offutt of Walnut Springs along with numerous nephews and nieces.
Jr was preceded in death by his wife (Lois): Parents TP and Susie Offutt: Riley F. Gosdin: sister Ophelia Nunn.
