Rodolfo O “Rudy” Lopez

GLEN ROSE — Rodolfo O. “Rudy” Lopez, 71 entered eternal rest on December 23, 2015 at his home. A memorial service will be held on December 29, 2015 at Faro de Luz Maranatha Church in Glen Rose, Texas. Pastor Luis Crespo will officiate.
He was born on March 11, 1944 in Moroleon, Guanajuato, Mexico to Nicolas and Socorro Lopez. Rudy spent his childhood living in Mexico. Later as a young adult he ventured to the United States as a migrant worker in the 1960’s. He met and later married Rosa Maria Lara in Chicago, Illinois on January 1, 1972. While living in Chicago he worked as a frame assembler at the Intercraft Industrial Corporation. The couple later welcomed two children Rodolfo Jr. and Rocio, and decided to raise a niece as their own, Blanca. By the urging of a brother in law, he relocated the family to Palacios, Texas where he later worked as a laborer at the South Texas Project in Bay City. By the mid 1980’s work had declined at the nuclear plant and he saw a new opportunity at the newest nuclear project in Glen Rose. Once again the family moved and made their home in Glen Rose. It was here that another child was welcomed to the family, Richard. While growing fond of this small community, he worked at Comanche Peak for eleven years as a painter. After suffering a heart attack in the summer of 1991, he was unable to continue heavy labor work and decided to enroll in nurse assistant classes and earned his C.N.A. license. He found great joy working and entertaining his coworkers at the GRMC nursing home. He once said it was the best job he ever had because it gave him the opportunity to love and care for the residents, many to the end of their earthly journey. His hobbies included singing, U.S. history, crossword puzzles, spending his time with grandchildren, and working in his yard. Mostly he enjoyed being a wise cracking, funny guy as many residents referred to him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Rosa Maria; along with six children; Blanca and Bonifacio Hinojosa of San Antonio, Tx, Norma Lopez of Moroleon, Gto., Mexico, Mireya Lopez of Washington State, Rodolfo Jr. and Gloria of Cleburne, Tx, Rocio and David “Wally” of Glen Rose, Tx, and Richard Lopez of Glen Rose. Fourteen grandchildren; Leticia, Blanca, Cynthia, Maritza, Rigo, Yasmin, Mycah, Khole, Zalie, Samantha, Megan, Eliz, Nicholas and Belen. Two great-grandchildren, Two sisters; Beatriz Lopez and Yolanda Nunez both of Moroleon, Gto., Mexico. Numerous family; from Chicago, Illinois, Texas, and Moroleon, Guanajuato, Mx., Preceded in death by his parents Nicolas and Socorro Lopez, older brother; Abel Lopez, and older sister; Eva Lopez.
