Roger Wayne Moore, M.D., age 89, departed this earth on June 5, 2022, to join his Heavenly Father for eternity.
Roger was born on May 5, 1933, in Seminole, Oklahoma, where he lived until finishing high school. After his studies at the University of Oklahoma in Norman. Roger graduated from Baylor School of Medicine in Houston, TX in 1958 with a Doctor of Medicine degree. Roger interned at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, TX, 1959-1960. Following his internship, he established his practice at the Northwest Hospital on the North Side of Fort Worth for 20 years performing numerous surgeries and helping bring many newborns into the world.
In 1980, he joined Lockheed Martin (then General Dynamics) as Medical Director of the Aeronautics Division, a position that he held until his retirement in 2011. Being at Lockheed Martin was a great fit for Roger as he was an enthusiastic pilot and owned private planes in which he enjoyed flying family and friends throughout Texas and the U.S. Amongst others, Roger’s memberships included the American Medical Association, Texas Medical Association, Tarrant County Medical Society, Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association, Century II (Board of Directors), La Cima Club and City Club of Fort Worth. His love of medicine was always evident to everyone who knew Roger and after his retirement he continued to keep his medical license current and enthusiastically followed all medical news and developments.
During his life, Roger, and his life partner, the late Frances Buckler, traveled extensively on holidays to many different cities and countries. Roger’s ample generosity, kindness, warm smile, and gentle spirit will be sorely missed by his family and his many friends, old and new.
Roger is survived by his only child Caron Moore, her husband, Tony Rico; Caron’s mother, Joan Brohard Moore; his nephews, Steve Shawn of Moore, Oklahoma, Jon Moore of San Marcos, Texas and numerous friends.
The family is very thankful for all the friends who visited Roger and shared their time with him during the past few months and expresses unending gratitude for his compassionate and loving caregiver who led Team Doc Moore for the past 6 months. The family hopes to see everyone at Roger’s Celebration of Life on July 21 (Thursday), 9:30 AM at Biggers Funeral Home, 6100 Azle Avenue in Fort Worth. A reception will follow at the Hidden Gardens Venue, 8229 Jacksboro Hwy., Fort Worth, TX 76135. Memorial gifts are requested to be given to the Baylor Medical Foundation.
