Ronald “Pee Wee” Ray Baker, 68, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on December 6, 2019. Celebration of Life: 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 14, 2019, Wiley Funeral Home Chapel, Granbury. A celebration of life will be held in Vermont in the summer.
Pee Wee was born on January 13, 1951 to Pete and Minnie Lee Baker in Weatherford, Texas. He grew up in Brock, Texas and graduated from Brock High School in 1969. He started working at TxDOT at the age of 18, retiring at the age of 49, with 31 years of service. He married Deborah Deschamps Baker in 1993. They spent their time between Vermont, Texas, and Cape Cod, MA. They enjoyed traveling, playing music, and working on Deb’s never ending “honey-do” list to keep the Vermont farm in tip top shape.
Pee Wee loved spending time with his family and friends. His other passions were being on the river in his airboat, fishing with his daughter, Vanessa, while he exaggerated about how big his fish was compared to hers. He loved his golfing buddies in Texas and Vermont, but hated losing even though it was only a few dollars. He also enjoyed puttering in his shop turning wood bowls on his lathe where there was a large supply of band-aids close by. He could be seen often in the afternoon on his ATV taking a victory lap on his properties with a cold beer in his hand, while his dog Polywog was by his side. Cape Cod, Massachusetts held a special place in his heart where he relished his time on the ocean fishing for the “big one”.
Pee Wee is survived by his wife, Deborah, daughter, Vanessa Dehnisch and husband Matthew, and granddaughters, McKenzie, Melanie, Macie, and other family and friends.
