Interment: 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 14, 2021 in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, July 9, 2021 at Biggers Funeral Home
Rupert Hoggard Harrell, Jr. aka “Preacher”, was born December 4, 1948 in Windsor, North Carolina to Rupert, Sr. and Clara Harrell. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam war. Rupert received his degree in Bible/Theology from Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. He absolutely loved his biker family and friends.
Rupert was a true hero. In Vietnam, he served as an assault helicopter Crew Chief/Door Gunner for a Co. 158 Avn. 101st Airborne, Ghostriders. He was shot down four times, was awarded two bronze stars with valor, and two Purple Hearts.
During his ministry, he took many Vietnam Vets back to Vietnam to spread the gospel, build churches and help Vets find their inner healing. He was an evangelist with Honor Bound Motorcycle Ministry and served as a Chaplain for Run for the Wall Central Route (He was chosen to be the senior chaplain in 2020, 2021 and 2022.)
Rupert was preceded in death by his parents, Rupert, Sr. and Clara; his father and mother-in-law, John and Deloris; sister, Claudia; and niece, Caycee.
Survivors: Wife, Myra; sons, Martie and T.J. and wife, Diana; grandson, Trent and wife, Marci; granddaughters, Jordan and Kara; great-grandchildren, Laney and Stetson; sisters, Lynn and husband, Steve, and Cindy and husband, Kevin; sister-in-law, Cathy and husband, Kenneth; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
