Russell Lynn Eagleton, 71, of Ft. Worth, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 28, 2021. He was surrounded by his devoted wife, son and daughter. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him.
Russell was born in Ft. Worth, Texas on September 1, 1949 to Phil and Betty Eagleton. The family moved to White Settlement and he graduated from Brewer High School. At 17, he enlisted in the Air Force, where he served in Okinawa and Vietnam. He graduated from Texas Wesleyan College with a Bachelor of Business. He was married to Paula Arledge Eagleton, his best friend and loving wife of 48 years. After serving as Vice-President of Polimex Klegecell for many years, he owned a playground installation business. As the result of a terrible accident in 2009, while installing a playground, he became a quadriplegic.
Prior to his accident, Russell enjoyed raising cattle, working on his land, fishing, snow skiing, running marathons and bicycle races with friends, and boxing in the Golden Gloves. Most of all, he loved spending time with family, friends and the simple pleasures of life- BBQs with country music and pitching washers.
Bringing quality playgrounds to many cities and elementary schools also brought Russell much pleasure. He enjoyed watching the fruits of his labor when he would drive by a playground and see children happily playing together. As a 2010 tribute to him, a fully accessible playground was installed at Shady Grove Park in Azle, Tx. and named “Russell Eagleton Playground for All”. The project was primarily funded and sponsored by the City of Azle, CVS Caremark and Gametime/Total Recreation Products, Parks for Play, Star Property Inspections, Home Depot, BMB, Bob Richards and assembled by friends, family, church family and the Azle High School football team and shop department.
Russell is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Phillip Eagleton and Betty Beatrice Warren and his in-laws, Roy Breen Arledge and Virginia Lorraine (Williams) Arledge.
He is survived by his wife, Paula Eagleton; his son Austin Eagleton and wife MK; his daughter, Summer Crow and husband, Donny; grandchildren, Griffin, Lyndon and Breck Crow, and Walt and Kate Eagleton; his brothers Randy Eagleton and wife, Lori, Kenneth Eagleton and wife, Kathy, and Ed Eagleton, and many nieces and nephews.
