GRANBURY — Samuel Lee “Sam” Torian was born on January 7, 1925 to Samuel Edward and Louise (Hill) Torian. He departed this life on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Harbor Lakes Health and Rehab, in Granbury, Texas, at the age of 91.
Inurnment: 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
Sam grew up in Gracey, Kentucky and enlisted in the U.S. Marines in 1942. He was a WWII veteran and was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries received during combat in Okinawa. In July 1948 he then enlisted in the U.S. Army and retired in October 1970. He married Fern (Smith) in 1963 in Corpus Christi. Sam went to work for Safeway from 1971 to 1987. After that he then retired to Granbury to continue to be an avid golfer. In his golfing career he succeeded in achieving 14 holes in one. Sam will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
His survivors include, wife Fern; children Richard; Steven, wife Liz; Patrick, wife Caryl; Bill, wife Rachel; Kelly, husband Alan; Grandchildren Cody, Matthew, Joey, Nathan, Daniel, Candace, Scott, Brandy, Jacquie, Austin, Cortni Dru, and 5 Great Grandchildren.
