Shelby “Pete” Lloyd Goodwin

Shelby Lloyd “Pete” Goodwin, age 103, passed away at home Monday, January 17, 2022 surrounded by loved ones.

Funeral service:  2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 29, 2022 in Biggers Funeral Chapel.

Interment:  1:30 p.m., Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery

Pete was the only child of Cora Lucille Goodwin born, November 23, 1918 in Fort Worth, TX. He was married for 72 years to his loving wife, Dorothy. Pete loved gardening, gambling at Winstar, eating at Joe T. Garcia’s, watching football and picking out pecans.

He served in Army Air Corps/USAF for over 20 years beginning in 1941. He was proud to be in the 8th Air Force, 306 Bomb Group, 423 Bomb Squadron. He retired as Chief Master Sargent in 1961.

Pete was preceded in death by his mother, Cora Goodwin Draper; his wife, Dorothy D Goodwin; and his grandson, Rainey L Slater.

He is survived by his daughters, Docia and husband, Scott, and Sandra and husband, Bill; granddaughters, Kristie and husband, Lucas, and Kathleen and husband, Aaron; great-granddaughters, Shelby and Laurie; great grandson, Connor; and all the wonderful home helpers that cared for Pete in his last years, Carolyn Titus, Virginia Phea, and Julia Allen. A special thank you to the veteran group Fort Worth Roll Call and the Meals on Wheels team.
