Mrs. Shirley Christian Bordner passed away peacefully on February 25, 2018 in Fort Worth, TX, with her family at her side.
Interment will be at the North Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain on Monday, March 12, 2018 at 12 noon with a private family committal service.
Mrs. Bordner was born in Miami, Florida on August 5, 1931 to Dorothy and James Clary. She was a graduate of Miami-Edison High School. She married Wayne R. Bordner Sr., on December 17, 1954 in Miami, Florida. The Bordner’s raised their two children, Cindy and Wayne, Jr. in Miami where they resided for 24 years. The Bordners relocated their family to Henderson County, North Carolina in 1979. Shirley worked at Carolina Village Nursing and Retirement Center in Hendersonville, North Carolina for 28 years, retiring in 2005. She also provided personal care as a CNA to individuals who needed assistance after her regular shifts at Carolina Village. The family moved to Fort Worth, TX in May, 2011. Shirley loved her jobs, traveling, and playing bingo.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, and husband of almost 59 years, Wayne Bordner Sr. on November 4, 2013.
Shirley is survived by her daughter Cindy and son and daughter-in-law Wayne Jr. and Sandra of Fort Worth, TX.
