GRANBURY — Shirley Ann Oglesby, aged 78, died peacefully on July 8, 2015 surrounded by her loved ones. Shirley was born on February 20, 1937, in Dallas, Texas, the daughter of Johnny and Lettie Mae Leonard.
Visitation: Sunday at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Funeral services: Lakeside Baptist Church in Granbury on Monday, July 13th at 10 a.m.
Interment: Holly Hills Memorial Park, Granbury
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent in her name to Volunteer Fire Department, Granbury, TX.
Shirley grew up in Dallas and attended North Dallas High School. She went on to attend the University of North Texas where she met the love of her life, Albert (Al) Oglesby. They were married and spent the first years of their married life living in Carmel, California. They moved back to Texas and lived in Odessa for over 30 years before retiring to Granbury in 1994. While living in Odessa, Shirley worked for El Paso Products and finished her career working with British Petroleum in Midland as an executive secretary.
Shirley thoroughly enjoyed her time in retirement in Pecan Plantation with her husband. They played endless hours of golf with many close friends, especially those in their Augusta Golf Group and the Pinnacle Group. Even though she had never really played golf before retiring, Shirley had a gift for the game and won several club tournaments.
Shirley was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church in Granbury.
Shirley is survived by her husband Al Oglesby; daughter, Stefanie Schiesser and husband Tom of Austin, TX; son, Ty Oglesby and wife Cathy of Euless, TX; grandchildren, Avery & Ben Schiesser and Dylan Summerfeld; sisters-in-law, Gwen Rippey and husband Don of Austin and Margie Porter of Huntsville; and a number of other relatives and close friends.
