Phil & Marsha Johnson left a message on November 3, 2018:
When we moved to the small community just south of Bonham called Edhube, the first people to make us feel welcome and at home were Shirley and Stan Smith. They took us out to eat, invited us into their home and lives, and were great examples to us of great Godly servants. They also introduced us to their friends and our neighbors. If we needed any help with anything, Stan and Shirley were right there. Stan would come over several times a week to check in and help wherever needed without being asked. They were also active servants in the local church. I loved to tease Shirley, but she gave better than she got. Especially birthday cards. The ones she sent were often so outrageously insulting and hilarious. We have rarely known two finer souls than Stan and Shirley Smith. They planted seeds in our lives that have endured, and which we are endeavoring to pass on to others. We will surely miss them.
Russ Rowley left a message on November 1, 2018:
Although Shirley and Stanley, lived 1,000 miles from me (an Okie in Chicago area). I visited them for a few days each year for the past 20 years. Those visits were precious because we shared a passionate love for Jesus. As Stanley’s memory faded, Shirley’s love for Jesus and her family showed immensely. She was so proud of her family, Bradley, Gary & Gwen, and Cavyn, Karis and Jared. Her prayers exalted God and thanked Jesus for dying on the cross so their entire family could be assured of eternal life with Him.
Valerie Hill left a message on October 27, 2018:
She wasn't technically my aunt, rather my mother's cousin. But to us, she was "Aunt" Shirley, a kind, loving, laugher-filled woman. She inherited her mother's wit, I believe. I will always admire her strength in loss and her joy in living. Thank you, "Aunt" Shirley, for being a part of my life.
