Sonja Wooten

Sonja Wooten, 46, passed away Thursday September 22, 2016 at her home in Fort Worth after a lengthy battle with metastatic breast cancer. Everyone who knew her can attest to the fact that she was a fighter until the very end.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 1, in Biggers Funeral Chapel. Interment will be at 2:30 Saturday in Elmwood Cemetery in Abilene. The family will be present to receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to the non-profit Susan G. Komen.

Sonja was born on June 9, 1970 in Lubbock to Edward M. Wooten Jr. and Sung Yon Wooten.

Sonja lived a very full life, and never shied away from an adventure. She was fortunate to have traveled to many countries around the world, and across America, both with her job and for leisure. She was a doting big sister to her brother, Edward M. Wooten, III; a loving daughter to her parents and stepmother; and a fabulous and treasured friend to many, which was evident by the number of loved ones who surrounded her for the last few weeks of her life. She loved learning and was working on her MBA at the University of Dallas when she passed away. If a life well-lived is measured by how well you love, and how deeply you are loved, then she lived extraordinarily well.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Sung Yon Wooten, and her younger brother, Edward M. Wooten, III.

Sonja is survived by her father, Mr. Edward M. Wooten Jr. and wife, Jenny; sister-in-law, Angela Wooten; her step-siblings and nieces and nephews, Yohan, Lee Ann, Evan, Olivia, and Cason Wardwell and Leslie and Alliett Fayad.
