Stephen L. Harms, 68, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2015, after suffering from Alzheimer’s.
Visitation was held Monday at Ash Creek Baptist Church and a memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 28, 2015 at Grace Community Church, 3215 Old Jacksonville Hwy., Tyler, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ash Creek Baptist Church Next Harvest Fund or the Fort Worth Alzheimer’s Association.
Steve was born in Sterling, Illinois on October 27,1946. He was raised on a dairy farm in Illinois. Steve married Connie in 1967 and graduated from Platteville State University in 1969 with a degree in agriculture/business and later attended Asbury Seminary to further his knowledge of Christ. His passions were discipleship ministry and marriage ministry. Steve and Connie moved to Texas in 1975. He was owner of Harms Way Carpet Cleaning in Tyler, where he resided for 34 years. They moved to Azle in 2010 where they became members at Ash Creek Baptist Church. Steve enjoyed going to the Azle Seniors Center and participating in the Line Dancers and exercise group sponsored by the Harris Methodist Hospital in Azle. Many thanks to the wonderful Hospice Staff that cared for Steve for 3 years.
Survivors include his wife Connie; children, Stephenie Harms, Sherry Burgess, Luke Harms, and Josh Harms; 8 grandchildren; mother, Betty Harms of Illinois; 4 siblings; and numerous extended family and friends.
