In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Mesothelioma Research Foundation of America.
Steve, known by his closest friends and family as “Pappy” and by Katy and Chloe as “Captain Underpants,” was born in Fort Worth on September 2, 1951. He spent most of his formative years on the East Side and at age 16 went to work with his older brother, Don, as a telephone lineman, his profession for over 40 years. He was with AT&T for over 20 years and retired in 2005 as a construction contractor.
Steve had many interests and hobbies. He was passionate about surf fishing and the beach. He was a gifted mechanic who loved to restore old cars. He could repair just about anything and rescued and healed more lost and injured dogs than can be counted.
Although he lost his fight with mesothelioma, he never lost his good humor and his love for his God, his family and his friends. He never complained. Steve’s life was an example and reminder that in the end all we really have to give and receive is love.
Steve was predeceased by his father, E.B. Jennings; his mother, Thelma Armstrong; and his brother, K. Don Jennings.
He is survived by his soul mate and the love of his life, Linda Walker Jennings; and his sister, Sue Jennings and partner, Cindi Love. He also leaves an extended family of origin and family of choice, who cherish him as a fun-loving, free spirit and someone who could always make them laugh.
