Steve Lesnett, Sr., 68, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2017 in Dallas, Texas.
Service: 2:00 PM, Friday, April 7, 2017 in Wiley Funeral Home Chapel, Granbury, Texas.
Interment: Chalk Mountain Cemetery, Somervell County, Texas.
Visitation: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Thursday, at Wiley Funeral Home.
Steve was born in Enid, Oklahoma on October 10, 1948. He was one of two children born to the late, Howard and Martha (Wilson) Lesnett. Steve moved to California with his family when he was 12 years old and would return to spend summers in Watonga, Oklahoma with the Clewell cousins. He graduated from Lompoc High School with the class of ’66 and was soon drafted into the U. S. Army in 1968. Steve proudly served during the Vietnam War and worked in the Corps of Engineers to rebuilt Vietnam damage by the war. He finished his service as a Radioman. After his honorable discharge, Steve became an Arabian horse rancher in California. He met, Linda House, who was showing horses on the ranch he worked, and they married August 18, 1977. They drove to Granbury to spend the honeymoon and then made Texas their home. Steve continued ranching and together he and Linda raised their two children. He became Deputy Sherriff in Hood County in 1999 and retired after 12 years of service.
Steve is survived by daughter, Toni Moore and husband, Jeff; son, Steve Lesnett, Jr.; sister, Jo Allyson Wilmoth and husband, Robert; the mother of his children, Linda Lesnett; grandchildren, Faron Lesnett, and Grady Moore; numerous cousins; close friends, Cathy “Cat” Bauer and husband, Fred; and their children, Skylar Bauer Baxter, Freddie Bauer and Tanner Bauer.
