Susie touched many lives with her kindness, generosity and shining spirit. Born in San Antonio, January 5, 1942, she grew up in Fort Worth and graduated from Northside High School. She worked at Lockheed Martin as a Senior Logistics Contract Analyst until she retired in 2002. She helped to start the Steven Ministry Program and then served as a Steven Leader and Stephen’s Minister for many years. She was the consummate volunteer and first with her hand in the air to volunteer to serve. She volunteered for Community Hospice. She faithfully visited church member shut-ins at Eagle Crest and Azle Manor. She established the very principles of servitude in her church and community. Susan loved antiques and loved to travel. She was an artist and partnered with a lifelong friend in a floral design business for many years. She was the ultimate shopper. She had a picture of a little girl with a purse who’s caption read, “Those people who think that money can’t buy happiness just don’t know where to shop.”
She was preceded in death by her son, Larry Dean Flippen, and her parents, Al and Maxine Gross.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jerry Milton Flippen; her son, Jerry Scott Flippen; and brother, Terry Ray Gross as well as numerous family members and friends.
