Tawnya Moss, 68, passed away Friday, January 22, 2021. Prayer service and visitation: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Thursday, January 28, 2021, Wiley Funeral Home, Granbury.
Tawnya was born September 12, 1952 in Stephenville, Texas to E. W. and Lucille Earp Johnson of Tolar, Texas.
Tawnya was known best for her thirst of knowledge. She was well known at a young age of being smart. As a young mother she not only completed high school, but she also put herself through college becoming the first woman to graduate with three bachelor’s degrees at one time. She obtained a B. A., B. S., and B. S. W. in 1986 at Tarleton State University. In 1989 she completed her master’s in education. She taught high school one year but found her true passion while working with the elderly as a nurse’s aide in college. Later she became a social worker for Belmire Nursing Home in Bowie and Jacksboro while continuing her education at U. N. T. in Administration Psychology, Counseling and Sociology.
Tawnya is survived by her mother, Lucille Johnson; brothers, Mike, and Terry; children, Teresa Potter (Craig), Josiah Gowan (Kalli), Michael Smith (June); grandchildren, Tiffany, Jasmine, Salem and Jareth; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Jaxon and Gabriel
Tawnya was preceded in death by the love of her life, Joe L. Moss; father, E. W. Tony Johnson; brother, Timmy Johnson; and grandparents, Ray and Demple Stigler Earp and Floyd and Clonah Bramlett Johnson.
