Verna Kay Sanders

Verna Kay Sanders passed away at her home in Granbury, Texas on December 23, 2021 at the age of 67.

Verna was a caring and attentive mother. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved spending hours outside watching her dog, Sebastian, chase squirrels. She enjoyed sewing and knitting items for her family. She sought out ways to take care of her loved ones when possible.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Darwin Sanders, her mother, Dorothy Beard, her 2 sisters Joan Casteel and Gloria Ann Mills, in-laws John and Doris Tenny, brother-in-law Marty Morris, and her dear friend Sharon Johnson.

Verna is lovingly remembered by her two children, Jack Sanders and wife Amanda Sanders, Jennifer Jones and husband Joshua Super, and retired son-in-law Nol Jones. She was survived by 5 grandchildren: Taylor Jones, Jack Jones, Haley Sanders, Zach Sanders, Paige Sanders, and her 2 great grandchildren Misha Jones and Ivy Jones. She is survived by her sisters: Lenora Nivens and husband Darrell, Maxine Keller and husband David “Frog”, Elaine Morris and brothers John Wayne Beard, Tony Beard, and Tommy Beard, sister-in-law, Kay Hudson and brother-in-law Don Sanders.

Viewing will be from 12:00pm-5:00pm PM Monday, January 3rd, 2022 at Wiley Funeral Home. 

Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday January 5th, 2022 at Llano Cemetery in Amarillo, Texas.
