Violet Gesford

Violet Gesford, 86 years old, went to be with the Lord in her sleep on March 10th, 2019, the first Sunday of Lent, in Granbury TX. She had advanced congestive heart and renal failure. Violet lived between heaven and earth in the last days of her life, seeing Jesus. Violet was born on the Epiphany, January 6th 1933 in Chicago IL. She was an accomplished artist who received a scholarship to the Chicago Art Institute. She was also a teacher, (most lately at Shape Academy), an avid tennis player, a tenacious gardener and highly recognized real estate agent for Coldwell Banker. She was gracious and humble in her accomplishments. Violet was an everyday philanthropist who blessed everyone in her path. She chose compassion in adversity and never had a bad word to say about anyone. She appreciated nature, animals, music and dancing. She was the original Marie Kondo “Sparking Joy ” cleaning, organizing and giving things away. Although she hoarded by having a closet full of gifts for people, seizing opportunities to give. Violet embodied loving God and people, emphasizing the Lord’s message of forgiveness. She overcame difficult situations through forgiveness, the art of gratitude and the Serenity Prayer. Her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving which she hosted for her family for decades. She and her beloved husband of 67 years/ best friend of 73 years, Bob Gesford, attended and served at St. Francis Cabrini Church for over 40 years. They lived in D.C.B.E. nearby the Reiter’s and Senese’s until last May. They found lifetime friends in these communities. Violet is survived by her husband Bob Gesford whom resides in Quail Park of Granbury, three children Lauren ( Biff ) Reiter, Thomas Gesford and Kathleen Gesford, four grandchildren: Michael ( Katie ) Reiter, Carrie ( Tom ) Scarvie, Julia Gesford, Jodi Gesford; three great grandchildren, dear cousins Carmen ( Katie ) Sense and their children who were also her surrogate grandchildren: Carmen Jr., Karen, Debbie and Billy. She nurtured the love of Christ in our hearts, created a peaceful space in her home and in her community. Her legacy includes her classy character, not having a lazy bone in her body and keeping God’s unconditional love in her heart. Violet would bless you all to live your most loving lives, remind you to consistently receive and give forgiveness. Her memorial service is being held at Saint Francis Cabrini Church on May the 4th, 2019 at 10am. If you are a Star Wars fan you will appreciate this blessing of “May the 4th be with you”.
