Virg Bird

Virg Bird, 101, of Granbury, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2019. Visitation: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Saturday, Wiley Funeral Home, Granbury, Graveside service: 2:00 PM, Sunday, May 19, 2019, Holly Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity.
Virg was born on November 26, 1917 in Lipan, Texas to Ira and Pearl Bird. He was married to Lora Viola Boyd Bird in 1940. His greatest joy was taking care of his family. He worked for Sands Propane for 26 years.
Virg loved animals, farming and gardening at his home in Thorp Spring, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife Lora Bird, sons: J.W. Groom, and Martin Alton Groom, his parents and siblings: J. D. Bird, Artie M. Moss, Bonnie Pearl Archer, Willard E. Archer, and Mabel Killmer.
Virg is survived by his son: L.D. Groom, daughter-in-law: Dolores Groom, grandchildren: Linda Groom Hyde and husband James, Patricia Randklev and husband Bob, Barbara Groom, Phillip Groom, Mark Groom and wife Jill, Robin Groom, Tina Groom, Tony Groom, Tracy Groom, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other extended loving family and friends.
