GRANBURY –
Virgil Gardner, 86, passed away to our heavenly Father on March 8, 2014.
Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Our Savior Lutheran Church.
Virgil was born to Leo and Pauline Gardner in Prairieburg, Iowa. He worked as a farm helper all through his early life until he became an usher at the local Moore Theater as well as setting bowling pens and attending school At the age of 16 he enlisted into the service.
He drove semi-trucks over the road for 40 years winning several awards for safety driving and truck rodeos. He later moved to Geddings, TX, working with the oilfields in l980.
He married his sweetheart on Dec. 6, 1983 in Kaufman County, they leased a Marina in Seven Points TX and moved to Granbury, TX and began Triple A Mobile Home Service in 1984. As an avid bowler he won many awards and recognitions. He enjoyed raising three children, five grandchildren and never met a stranger. He was known for his laugh and outgoing personality.
Survivors: wife, Pauletta (Polly) Gardner of 30 years; children, Theresa Gardner and Jeff Owen; one sister, Thelma Morris; grandchildren, Stacey, Shelly, Joddi, Brad, Triston and Jesse. Beloved friends, Shawna, Mike Chad, Joe Becky, James, Evelyn, Bob, Nita, Gena, Renee and Erma.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Bob; daughter, Tammie Derickson; and son, Craig Gardner
