Walter was born Oct. 22, 1928, in Abilene to Torrance Feagan Fletcher and Ina Pernicia Sparks Fletcher. He married Jo Ann Phillips on Feb. 13, 1953, in Fort Worth. Walter had lived in DeCordova for 21 years and was a member of Acton Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from the U.S. Air Force Reserve. He also had a career as a contractor. He enjoyed golf and woodworking.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife; brother, William Cearley; and grandson, Brian Black.
Survivors: Wife, Mildred Hoggatt of Grandview; son, Danny Fletcher of DeCordova; daughter, Pamala Black and husband, Gary, of DeCordova; grandchildren and spouses, Jerry and Brandi Black of Fort Worth, Dr. Lauren Walker and husband, Tennessee, of Fort Worth, Jessica Fletcher Jones and husband, Tim, of Keller, Sarah Fletcher of Tyler; great-grandchildren, Bailey Black, Renner Walker and Ethan Jones; and sisters, Wrayaina Churchwill and husband, John, of Florida, and Sylvia Webber of Floresville.
