Walter Joel Ward, PhD, 92 of Azle, passed away on February 11, 2022 in Springtown, Texas.

Mr. Ward was born July 24, 1929 in Anderson County, Texas to Johnnie James Ward and Berta White Ward. He received his BBA from the North Texas State University, his MA from the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and his PhD from Texas Woman’s University. Mr. Ward worked as an Air Traffic Controller Flight Service Station with the Federal Aviation Administration and was a Marriage and Family Counsellor. He was a pilot and loved to fly. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and bowling. Mr. Ward was a Mason. He served his country in the United States Air Force and the Army National Guard.
Mr. Ward is preceded in death by his Parents, Johnnie and Berta Ward; Wives, Jackie Juanell Lightfoot Ward and Neoma Thatcher Ward; his Granddaughter, Megan Ward; his Great-Grandson, Anthony Ward; his Brothers, James Buford Ward and Emory Milton Ward; his Sister, Marion Watkins; Stepdaughters, Sharon Simpson and Cynthia Venegas.
Mr. Ward is survived by his Sister, Aline Rogers; Sons, Phil and wife, Pamela, Ken and wife, Jean, Rick Ward, Billy and wife, Heike; Grandchildren, Carson Ward, Michael and Amanda Ward, Jesse Ward, Walter and LeAnn Ward, Justin and Ashlee Archer, Nikki and Chris Laudermilk, James and Amanda Ward, Max and Jamie Ward, Anna Ward, Leon Ward; Step-Children, Kelly Reeves and Donna Fenton; Step-Grandchildren, Adriane Villarreal, Joshua Keils, Shari See, Dustin Simpson, Daryoush Zamhariri, Neal Willis, Beverly Aguilar, Thurman Fenton, and numerous great grandchildren.
