Warren William Rutz passed away peacefully on Friday, October 29, 2021 in Granbury, Texas, at the age of 98.
During his long, full life Warren rose from a Missouri farmstead to the US Army Air Forces, where he trained as a navigator during World War II, before completing college and enjoying a distinguished career in the oil and gas industry.
Although Warren credited his success to good luck, he was a dedicated employee whose commitment to hard work and straight shooting led him from the oil field to corporate management.
Along with being a devoted husband and father of three children, Warren played an especially important role in the lives of his grandchildren, whom he took on family trips to the Caribbean, the Rocky Mountains, and the Badlands of South Dakota.
Whether traveling or at home, he was always ready for the next adventure. Married to Elaine Rutz for sixty years, Warren is survived by a son, a daughter, five grandchildren, and two great granddaughters.
They will remember him for his enterprising spirit, his honesty and candor, and for the generosity he showed to those he loved.
A memorial service, to be held in Missouri, is pending. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Oak Hill Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri, or First Presbyterian Church of Granbury, Texas.
