Wayne Hagood

WAYNE D. HAGOOD

Wayne D. Hagood, Real Estate Counselor and Appraiser, was born in Fort Worth, Texas December 3, 1924, and passed away August 27, 2013. He resided at Lake Granbury since March of 1985.

In World War II he was in the Navy Air Force as a gunner on an Avenger Torpedo Bomber, was carrier based in the Pacific, saw action at Palau, Leyte, Luzon, and Iwo Jima, and was awarded the Air Medal and other citations.

He was married to Betty Jean Collins on December 3, 1946, and she was the true light and love of his life throughout the years. Her beauty and charm, her smile and sparkling blue eyes inspired him in all his endeavors.

An Internationally known counselor, appraiser, and lecturer, he was active professionally in the field from February of 1950, until his retirement as Chairman Emeritus of Hagood Realty Advisors, Inc., a professional firm which he established in 1953. After retirement he served on the Appraisal Review Board of Hood County.

He was a member of Panther City Lodge, and was affiliated with Fort Worth Chapter, RAM and Fort Worth Council, R&SM, Worth Commandry, Moslah Shrine, the Scottish Rite, and Order of DeMolay.

As a member of Acton United Methodist Church, he served as Finance Chairman, Treasurer, Trustee, Administrative Council, Chairman of the Cross and Flame Endowment Fund, and was the primary author of the Church’s Strategic Plan.

In later years he became involved with Habitat for Humanity of Hood County.
His stated mission in life was to live respected and die regretted.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, David Hagood and wife Jeanie of Fort Worth, one daughter Diane Burton and husband Larry of Spur, Texas, grandchildren Lindsey Hagood, Matt Burton, Paul Burton, Alicia Burton Cloud, Lisa Jones, and Lori Dunn; great grandchildren: Jeramy, Keegan, and Dillon Jack Cloud, Lauren and Lainey Dunn, Tiffany and Matthew Jones, and one sister-in-law Pamela Hagood. He was preceded in death by his Mother and Father, Gladys and Clyde Hagood, and brother Dr. C.O. Hagood, Jr.

Funeral services will be at Acton United Methodist Church Friday, August 30, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Acton Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, Dallas, Texas or Acton United Methodist Church and Habitat for Humanity of Hood County.
