Wayne R. Bordner, Sr. passed away peacefully on Monday, November 4, 2013, in Fort Worth, his family at his side.
A private memorial service will be held at North Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain where he will be laid to rest.
Mr. Bordner was born in Canton, Ohio, on December 10, 1933, to Eva Ritter and Paul Bordner. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1953. He married Shirley Christine Clary on December 17, 1954, in Miami, Florida. The Bordners raised their two children, Cynthia and Wayne Jr., in Miami where they resided for 24 years. Wayne Sr. retired from Florida Power and Light before relocating his family to Henderson County, North Carolina in 1979. He retired from the North Carolina State Highway Department and moved to Fort Worth in May 2011.
He was a soft-spoken, loving husband and father who loved the ocean, traveling, playing poker and bingo.

Wayne Sr. is survived by his wife of almost 59 years, Shirley; daughter, Cynthia; and son and daughter-in-law, Wayne Jr. and Sandra.
