Wilber Ray Melton

Wilber Ray Melton, 93, of Rainbow, Texas, passed away Saturday, September 1, 2018. Services will be held in Clinton, South Carolina.

Ray, a Cherokee native was born on June 15, 1925 in Campobello, South Carolina, to Catheryn (Miller) and Joseph Melton. Ray proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and was awarded a Purple Heart. In 1943, Ray married the love of his life, Annie Mabry, in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. Home and family were the important things to Ray. He loved spending time with family and cherished times spent with his son-in law. Ray loved to work and had a great work ethic. He also enjoyed gardening. He was an active member of Elizabeth Street Church of God in South Carolina.

Ray was preceded in death by his wife: Annie Melton; son: Donald Ray Melton; grandson: Michael Melton; his parents and 11 siblings.

Ray is survived by his daughter: Cindy Rincon and husband Joe; grandchildren: Melissa Ekis and husband Charles and Donald Robin Melton and wife Pam; great-grandchildren: Stetson Garcia, Justin Garcia, Torrie Watson, Christopher Melton; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
