William Hendrix Springfield

William Hendrix Springfield passed away Monday morning, Dec. 10, 2018 at home, surrounded by his family.

Service: 2 p.m. Friday at Ash Creek Baptist Church in Azle.

Private Burial.

Visitation: 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at Ash Creek Baptist Church.

Hendrix was born July 20, 1934 in Springtown to the late Jesse and Thelma Springfield. He was the ninth of ten children. On March 3, 1963, he married Ethel Lorene Daniel Sorrels, who survives him. Hendrix lived a long, fulfilling life. He was known to be a hard worker and successful business man. From raising watermelons, to spraying fertilizer, to real estate investments, he excelled at everything. He spent a great deal of time working and a great deal of his time with his family, especially his kids and grandkids. You could find him riding horses in the creek, making swimming pools out of truck beds, or spending the night on the trampoline looking for satellites with his grandkids. He leaves a strong legacy of hard work, strength, creativity, and perseverance.

He was preceded in death by his son, Terry Springfield; sisters, Thelma Shiller and Johnnie Thomas; brothers, Curtis, Helon, and Norman Springfield, and one grandchild.

Survivors: His daughter and son-in-law, Carmen and Kelly Rogers of Springtown; step-son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Kathy Sorrels of Springtown; step-daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Gary Christian of Springtown; brother, Don Springfield of Springtown; sisters, Cherry Markgraf of Azle and Marzella Stevens of Ft. Worth; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
