W. James Browne, 89, of Granbury, Texas passed away peacefully at his home on December 14.
Jim was born in 1929 in Fort Worth to Raymond and Phyllis Browne. He graduated from Carter High School where he earned all-district honors in football. He served four years in the US Navy and then received his BA in German and Mathematics from TCU.
After college, he worked for Southwestern Bell and eventually retired as an area manager with AT&T. A professional engineer with extensive experience in telecommunications, he testified during the AT&T divestiture hearings and after retirement he consulted for numerous communications firms. He loved to travel, read books and monitor the stock market.
Jim was preceded in death by both of his children, Joseph Michael Browne and Pamela Sue Browne. He is survived by his loving wife Donna, his sister-in-law Shirley Shaffer, his dogs, Eddie and Charlotte, and numerous friends and neighbors.
In lieu of service and flowers, the family requests donations in Jim’s honor to the Humane Society or any other organization that loves animals.
