Alecia, or Auntie A as she was affectionately called by many, began her professional career in insurance, followed by a 20-yearlong career in the mental health industry, both while simultaneously completing her undergraduate and graduate degrees. This eventually led her to a career change into a new and exciting field, real estate. She was extremely proud to call herself a Keller Williams agent and though her time there was short, she was very successful.
She loved life as a country girl after marrying the love of her life. She enjoyed their time feeding cows, checking the game cameras as well as other adventures she shared with John. She loved the times she and Coleman had showing livestock across the State of Texas, and eventually a 10-yearlong venture of raising show pigs. Even afterwards, she continued to be a part of the stock show community with extended “Stock Show Family.” She loved and cherished the relationships she made through the livestock and agricultural industry and was proud to call herself a part of the Morrison family.
Perhaps the thing Alecia loved the most was time spent with family and friends. She was the go-to planner of numerous shopping trips, family vacations and holiday celebrations. She enjoyed watching her nieces and nephew compete in swim meets, vocal productions, football, and soccer events. She always seeked a time to go to a game/event with any member of her family that could go.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church and participated in many charity events in the community. Family and friends will miss her more than words can say but are very grateful for the wonderful years we were given.
Alecia is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Terrell and Gracie Stewart; Paternal grandparents Pernie and Jewell Surley; and father-in-law Max Morrison.
She is survived by her husband of almost 18 years John Morrison; parents Clinton and Ann Surley; stepson Coleman Morrison; brother Brad (Nikki) Surley; nieces and nephew: Abby, Ally, and Nate Surley; mother-in-law Sis Morrison; sister-in-law: Mary Morrison; as well as numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends.
