Sheilah Carter Keeling passed away Sunday, October 9, 2022. Sheilah was born February 12, 1944, in San Diego, California, and was raised in Walnut Springs, Texas by her mother, Lola Bohannan Martin, and extended family.
Sheilah attended school in Walnut Springs, Fort Worth, and also in Frankfurt, Germany. She worked for many years in the banking industry in Dallas before moving back to Glen Rose to be closer to her family. There she owned and operated the Wild Rose Inn Bed & Breakfast for over 20 years. This was a natural fit with her interests and talents for cooking, gardening, and southern hospitality. Later in life her attention turned to spending quality time with friends and family, and even more so with the arrival of her many beloved grandchildren. Sheilah held a deep faith in Christ, exhibited by deeds rather than words. Over her years on this earth, she was known to be generous, a people person, a friend to many, and a help to those in need.
Sheilah is preceded in death by her mother, Lola Bohannan Martin, son, Vernon “Sonny” Thompson, Jr., former husband, Jerry Carter, husband, J.W. Keeling, and many beloved aunts and uncles.
Sheilah is survived by her son, Joshua Carter of Waco, and his children Caroline, Will and Mac, and by her daughter, Jennifer Carter Schlabs, of Glen Rose, and her children Cally and Lainey. She is also survived by her sister, Misty Martin Bartley of Fort Worth, cousin Nancy Bohannan Bybee of Glen Rose, and extended family.
