Gene Harper, age 87, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2016, in Granbury, Texas.
Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 14, 2016, at Wiley Funeral Home Chapel, Granbury, Texas.
Interment: Long Creek Cemetery, Granbury.
Visitation: 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Wiley Funeral Home.
Gene was born on August 15, 1929 in Amber, Oklahoma to Ray W. and Beulah O’Dell Harper. He graduated from Rush Springs High School in 1948. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Air Force and retired as Master Sergeant in 1969. In the military he sang and played bass in a band and boxed. Gene retired as District Sales Manager for Allstate in 1989. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason. Gene liked fishing and loved to play golf. Gene was greatly loved, respected and admired by friends and family. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Glenn Harper; and his first wife, Waunita Tankersley Harper.
Survivors: Wife, Pamela Harper; son, Larry Harper, step-son, Thomas Tompkins and wife, Julie; grandchildren, Sarah Harper, Lizzy Harper, Bailey Tompkins and Landon Tompkins and brother, Jerry Harper.
