William R. “Dub” Williams, 91, was born in Clinton, TX on Sept. 8, 1925. He graduated from Greenville High School, along with his childhood sweetheart, Dorothy Bell, whom he married in 1945.
Funeral service: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016 in Martin’s Funeral Home Chapel, Granbury, Tx.
Visitation: 6 – 8:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, 2016 at Martin’s Funeral Home.
Graveside service: 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Memoryland Memorial Park in Greenville, TX.
Dub served in the Navy during World War II and was a cook and gunner on a PT Boat in the Philippines.
He worked with A & P Grocery Stores in Greenville, TX, managing the meat department and had a farm in Cash, TX where they raised two children, William and Jonothan.
In 1958 he was promoted to the Dallas A & P store and became a regional supervisor, then managed stores for Food-O-Rama in Houston, Memphis, Shreveport, etc.
Dub loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.
They retired to De Cordova Bend Estates in Granbury.
He is survived by his son, William Lewis Williams and his sister Faye Timberlake.
He was a big-hearted gentleman with a tremendous sense of humor and love of life
