Gloria Gene “Genie” Kelly Perkins
Beloved “Grammy”, Genie Perkins, 73, of Weatherford, Texas, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2020. Genie was born in Dimmit, Texas on February 7, 1947 to Imogene and Myles A. Kelly. She attended Texas Women’s University in Denton. Genie was a creative interior decorator for most of her life. She was the owner and operator of Builder’s Carpets in Acton, Texas for a number of years before moving to Weatherford where she retired from a 22-year career as an interior home decorator for JC Penney. She was crazy about her grandchildren. Genie “whooped cancer’s ass” 3 times. She was a proud Texan all of her life, loved her classic rock and roll and country music. She had great joy in her retirement years watching the birds, squirrels and boats from her home on the Brazos river. Genie loved life. She always kept a positive attitude even through the most difficult challenges. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Genie is survived by husband of 35 years, David Perkins; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Christine Radons; grandson Adrian Radons; granddaughter Erin Radons. sisters Mary “KK” and husband James Swinford, and Kyle “Pat” and husband Perry Tong; niece Laura and husband Victor Taylor; stepchildren Shelly Spahr and Scott Perkins; grandchildren Christopher and Becky; sister and brother in-law Pat and Ken Dupper and their daughters Brenda and Beth; and a host of family and friends.
