Jesus came to the house of lifelong Tolar resident Bobby Glenn Campbell and said it was time to go home with him, Sunday, February 19, 2023. Bobby lived a life honoring his family, his farm, and impressing the values of hard work and dedication to those who knew him best. Bobby was born in his childhood home in Tolar, Texas, on April 7, 1937. He was the middle child of Othal Hurl Campbell and Ola Ellen Alexander Campbell, both of Tolar. Bobby graduated from Tolar High School, attended two years at Tarleton State University, and was a lifelong member of Tolar Baptist Church, which his grandfather, Reverend William Campbell, started.
Bobby was proud of his home and farm, which he built a day at a time, after work, paycheck by paycheck, alongside his dedicated and loving wife Patricia Carolyn Cherry, originally of Carlsbad, New Mexico, who he married in 1964. Together they raised two amazing children, Kimberly G. Campbell and Kyale G. Campbell, both of Tolar. Bobby and Patricia had many parallels in their lives, including being married at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Carlsbad, New Mexico, by Reverend Marvin Hall, originally of Bluff Dale, Tx.
After graduating high school, Bobby went to work and into the service. He was in the US Marine Corps from 1957-1960 at Camp Pendleton, CA, and was stationed at the Marine Corps Airbase in Iwakuni, Japan. After returning from the service, Bobby worked at Convair (General Dynamics), in the oilfield in Eunice, New Mexico, and in the International Minerals and Chemical Corporation Potash Mines in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Finally, he settled in 1965 at Bell Helicopter in Hurst, where he worked until he retired in 1998. Bobby’s passion for woodworking influenced many who loved him most. He built several homes in the community and could make anything with his hands, including beloved porch swings, often given as gifts to friends and family.
As a Texas Southwest Cattle Raisers Association member, he took pride in his herd, looking to improve cattle quality and genetics. Bobby believed in showing up and making an effort to make dreams a reality, even hand-digging the first water well on his property with his father.
Bobby is preceded in death by his sister, Billie Tramel, Nephew Toby Campbell, and Niece Connie Remling.
He is survived by his Wife, Patricia of 58 year, 4 months, and 2 days. Daughter Kim Waldrep and Husband Mark. Son, Kyale Campbell and Wife Natasha. Brother Nolan Campbell and Wife Julia, Brother in Law Don Tramel. Grandchildren: Dustin Waldrep and Wife Morgan, Jerra Rutledge and Husband Brady, Kaleigh Campbell-Huckabee and Husband Jared, Tucker Applequist. Great-Grandchildren: Paisley and Sutton Waldrep. Nieces and Nephews: Linda Burns, Debbie More (Dale), Paul Tramel (Karla), Lisa Griffin (John), Penny Donaldson, Rusty Miller (Polly), Jerry Miller (Lu), and Johnny Miller (Denise).
The visitation will be from 1-2pm, prior to the service at 2pm, Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury. Committal service at Stroud Creek.
