David Earl Andrews, 81, passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2018. Service: 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 31, 2018, Granbury Church of Christ, Interment: Long Creek Cemetery, Granbury, Visitation: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Friday, March 30, 2018, Wiley Funeral Home, Granbury.
David was born on March 6, 1937 in Granbury, Texas to Virgil and Casena Andrews. He was a generous, selfless man. He spent his life helping others, often in ways not noticed by the world. He had what we call a ‘good heart’; a man who truly felt compassion for others and who sought to help with no desire for attention. His greatest joy was his soulmate of 62 years, Leta Andrews. His happiness lay in daily making Leta’s life a joyful one. David was particularly devoted to his family. He was always there to help; you didn’t have to ask for daddy or granddaddy he was just always there. He had only one hobby in his life and that was making everyone’s life easier. He was a religious man who loved God and who actually lived the life he professed.
David was a traditional western gentleman. He knew manners, he understood politeness and grace. He never talked about himself, but always was genuinely interested in others. He had an elegance and sophistication that was often masked by a hard-working, tough exterior. His laughter was so infectious he could have an entire room laughing along with him. He was to his family (and many others) a true hero, a man who never asked for anything, but gave everything.
David is preceded in death by his father, Virgil Andrews, mother: Casena Moore Andrews, and sisters: Mary Lou Andrews and Connie Myers.
David is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Leta Mae Rains Andrews, three daughters: Linda Andrews Waggoner and husband John Waggoner, Sharon Andrews and husband Lawrence Tiberia, and Lisa Andrews Parker and husband Michael Parker, three granddaughters: Miranda Rains Waggoner and husband Sven Kranz, Erin Andrews Parker and fiancé Brandon Williams, and Reagan Mae Parker, one grandson: Sawyer Rains Parker, and one great-grandson: Anton Virgil Kranz.
