Dorothy F. (Witt) Harris, 91, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Marine Creek Nursing Home in Ft. Worth, TX. Dorothy was born October 13, 1926 at the family home place near the Wild Onion Community in Springtown, TX. She was the ninth of 12 children born to the late, John L. Witt and Lela Ann Jennings Witt. Dorothy married Vance Lindell Harris on June 9, 1943 and they resided in Reno – Dorothy was a resident for 85 years. She had a heart for children with special needs and taught school for many years in the Rhome and Azle schools. In her 70’s, Dorothy took up writing poetry and wrote a keepsake poem for each of her children and grandchildren. She was a longtime member of Walnut Creek Baptist Church and was ever faithful to that church. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Vance Lindell Harris; infant daughter, Margaret Ann; brothers, Autry, Marvin, Woodrow, Clarence, and J.L; and sisters, Ruby, Nadine, Mary Ruth, and Mildred.
Dorothy is survived by two children, James L. Harris of Saginaw and Janis C. Stevenson of Briar; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Imogene Sneed of Weatherford and Georgiana Smith of Poolville; and more nieces, nephews and cousins than you can imagine.
