Eufrasia Speer, 97, of Tolar, died March 29, 2023 at the Granbury Care Center.
She was born on March 13, 1926, to Augustine and Crestina Castro in Edna, Texas and graduated from high school in Rockport, TX.
She married Arthur Speer in Corpus Christi, TX and soon moved to the west coast, the first of several stops including Guam and Hawaii, during her husband’s time serving in the Navy. After living in southern California for many years, they moved to Tolar, TX in 1973. A few years later, Eufrasia began working for the Tolar ISD in several different roles. She enjoyed very much working with her students and when she retired, she said it was because of dealing with administration, because she so enjoyed working with her students.
She enjoyed traveling, reading, spending time with family and friends, volunteering at the Granbury Opera House and playing bingo at the Senior Center. She was a Texas Rangers fan, watching or listening to games each season, and she never missed an episode of Wheel of Fortune.
She is survived by two daughters, Laura Monistere of New Orleans, LA, Betsy Speer of Irving, TX and one granddaughter Heather Sabin of Laguna Beach, CA.
Memorial will be Saturday, April 22, 11:00 a.m. at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury, Texas.
