LIPAN — Hazel Moss, 95, passed away Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015, in Stephenville, Texas.
Funeral: 2:00 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, 2015, at Patillo Baptist Church in Patillo, Texas.
Burial: Sturdivant Cemetery in Mineral Wells, Texas.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wiley Chapel in Lipan, Texas.
Hazel was born Sept. 21, 1920, in Chillicothe, Texas, to Homer and Ebbie Weeks Worley. The doctor traveled to the farm in a horse and buggy to assist in the delivery. Hazel married Lawrence B. Moss on June 16, 1934 when she was 13 and Lawrence was 17.
Hazel spent her life as a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and teacher. She received her undergraduate degree from Tarleton State University and her Master’s Degree from TCU. As a teacher she was elected and served as President of the State Kindergarten Teachers Association.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Lawrence Moss, and a son, JB Moss.
Survivors: Sons, Jacky and Freddie Moss; daughter-in-law, Martha Moss; close friend, Carol Saxenian; 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; and many friends.
