Jim Hurford

Jim Hurford, 77, of Lipan, passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2018. No services are planned at this time.

Jim was born on May 27, 1941 in Hagerman, New Mexico to Elsie Lou (Steadman) and Johnny Hurford. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Jim enjoyed being a firefighter and paramedic. Jim and Liz were married on August 11, 2015. He loved his family very much and he moved to Lipan to be near them; all of his children lived in the Lipan area.

Jim was a real cowboy; he liked to rope and ride his horse in the mountains. However, he liked mules more than horses. He loved fishing and reading and he read all of Louis L’amour’s books. He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.

Jim is survived by his loving wife: Elizabeth “Liz” Hurford; children: Lori Boardman and husband Brad, Preston Hurford and wife Lori, Shannon Tipton and husband Wayne, and Anna Laursen; eight grandchildren; many great- grandchildren; three sisters; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
